Tue May 3: Mor Yakup-Midyat-Salah

We went with Said to Midyat to have breakfast and do some shopping. Later we went for dinner. This would become our daily routine because it was not possible to cook or take dinner in the monastery. Of course not everybody joined always, because work, tiredness, or stomach problems.
Mor Yakup was a good place to work on the individual projects because from now there were less trips planned and the neighbouring village Salah. Some took the opportunity to walk through Salah and learn about the inhabitants. They were warmly welcomed with tea and bread. Ruth and Teresa went to a Kurdish family and from day 1 they were willing to help Ruth with her project. During the whole period we stayed in Mar Yakup she visit the family.
We had a warm welcome in Salah and in a way it is amazing that without any hesitation we were invited in the houses. Would this be the same case in the Netherlands?
